Kellan Lutz & His Massage of Choice

February 25, 2016

Kellan LutzAfter filming for several months in Australia, actor Kellan Lutz escaped to Mexico this month to enjoy an extended getaway at the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. With his new lady by his side, the couple enjoyed the property’s Rock Spa where they relaxed with aromatherapy treatments, to completely unwind from their hectic schedules.

Kellan Lutz Essential Oil Synergy

According to the hotel spa, Kellan Lutz and his partner chose a massage using a synergy of essential oils especially designed to induce deep relaxation, strengthen the respiratory system, eliminate
muscle tension and reduce anxiety by providing a deep sense of calm. The resort’s signature treatment combines four of the most popular massage techniques: shiatsu, stretching, lomi lomi and Swedish.

Aromatherapy is the art of using fragrant essential oils for health, vitality and healing. They can be used externally, in therapeutic massage or as herbal preparations for the skin—some may also be taken internally via diffuser or as stimulating teas, says one of Australia’s foremost herbalists and natural health experts, Alan Hayes.

“The ancient Chinese are generally acknowledged as being he first civilisation to practice aromatherapy,” Hayes says. “However, it is likely the benefits of essential oils were known long before this.”

“The face, neck, lips, arms, legs and feet can all be nourished and pampered with essential oils, used either alone or in cleansers, tonics and moisturising creams and lotions—and just for women, there are certain essential oils which are useful for treating problems which may occur during menstruation, menopause or pregnancy.”

Essential Oils, their Properties and Uses

One of my favourite books on aromatherapy is Health Scents, by Alan Hayes. Here are some of his tips on how to incorporate them into your daily life:

Soothing the Nerves

Essential oils are valued for their ability to redress any imbalance between two parts of the autonomic nervous system; that is, the sympathetic and he parasympathetic nerves.

Fighting Infection

The antibacterial constituents of certain essential oils make them useful in both treating and preventing infection, by helping to boost the body’s resistance. One of the strongest natural antiseptics is eucalyptus oil, which contains the potent and powerful antibacterial constant, eucalyptus. Other potent antiseptic oils are lemon, pine, clove, thyme and cinnamon.

Essential oils appear to work by speeding up the process of cellular regeneration, thus helping the skin to heal faster. Some oils—thyme, sage and rosemary in particular—have anti-inflammatory properties, making hem useful not only for treating sores, cuts, burns and bruises, but in relieving the pain of arthritis and rheumatism. Lavender oil, for instance, can be used to relieve he pain of a headache. Simply massage a couple of drops of the oil into your temples with your fingertips.

Other oils can aid in the treatment of injuries, such as sprains, strains and corn ligaments. Essential oils such as hyssop, oregano and St John’s Wort can be used to relieve aches and pains and  relax stiff muscles.

Skin and Hair Care

Several essential oils are particularly beneficial to the skin and may be used o great hair and scalp conditions. They can be included in creams and lotions, aromatic baths and showers, shampoos and hair and scalp conditioning oils.

Research has shown that essential oils affect the body’s hormone-producing glands and that, after entering the bloodstream, the organs absorb them as they do other nutrients. For example, anise and mint stimulate the pituitary gland, which in turn affects most of the other hormone-producing glands. Lavender oil rubbed into the wrists or the name of the neck has a calming effect. Other oils such as cinnamon and ylang-ylang , have natural aphrodisiac properties and are reputed to revive a waning sex drive.
