Clever filmmaker Jesse Rosten came up with this not-made-for-television ad, which gives women everywhere a true snapshot of what happens behind the scenes of countless beauty campaigns.

What you see isn’t what you get, thanks to digital manipulation (we see it on the newstands every week, with celebrities looking nothing like their human selves). As Cindy Crawford once put it: “Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford.”

“I was watching TV one sleepless night and stumbled upon an infomercial for some beauty product,” Jesse says on his website. “The commercial showed before and after portraits, that to my eye, looked like the same photo just photoshopped. I laughed to myself. Then I made this video.”

    Awesome, thanks for sharing. I’ve never believed mascara ads, I think they’re the absolute worse! Do you know the blog Photoshop Disasters? Soo hilarious. 🙂
