The skin around your eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of your skin. It has fewer, fine pores, and any deficiencies or irregularities in diet, sleep or skin care will show up here. So we need to do everything we can to treat this sensitive, telling area as often as we can!
This at-home treatment uses yerba mate — a South American plant that contains many vitamins, minerals and fatty acids — to soften, brighten, nourish and revitalize the eye area. The caffeine in the yerba mate also helps to constrict blood vessels so as to reduce darkness and inflammation, and tighten the skin.
Herbal infusions are one of the most efficient ways to deliver concentrated plant actives to your skin, and the fact that you can make this one yourself means it’s the perfect way to treat your tired eyes at the end of the day.
Yerba Mate Eye Treatment
2 bags of Yerba Mate
1/2 cup hot water
Steep the Yerba Mate bags in the hot water for 20 minutes. Carefully lay the soaked tea bags on a clean plate and place them in the refrigerator to cool down.
When the tea bags are cool, place them over your eyes and relax for 15-30 minutes while the actives penetrate and hydrate the delicate skin around your eyes. The cold will sooth the skin and reduce any puffiness.
