Homemade Beauty Recipe: Raspberry Sugar Scrub

April 27, 2015

There’s nothing more satisfying (and beautifying) than whipping up a homemade beauty recipe from your pantry. Shannon Lutz from White Girl Wizard is the newest Eco Beauty Editor contributor and will be sharing eco beauty insights and edible beauty recipes, from face masks to foot scrubs…

I recommend making exfoliation a part of your weekly routine for both your face and lips. It is such a crucial piece to any beauty regimen and you’ll thank yourself throughout the years. This is such a fun, natural and delicious recipe that you’ll want to lick the scrub off of your lips once done!

Ingredients:

For The Raspberry Sauce

1tbs cornflour
10 raspberries
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar

For The Scrub

the raspberry sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1tsp coconut oil
small jar with lid

Instructions:

STEP 1

Make the raspberry sauce by adding the cornflour, water and sugar to a saucepan on low heat and stirring until combined. Add the raspberries and stir until the mix has completely combined and the berries have broken down. Take off the heat and allow to cool.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the sugar and coconut oil until combined. Stir until the mix is completely covered. Add in a t ablespoon of the raspberry sauce and mix well. The sugar should be lightly coated in the sauce and coconut oil, if you think it looks a little damp add in another spoonful of sugar and stir.

Step 3

With clean hands, take a few fingers of the scrub and rub on to lips, massage gently for 3-5 minutes. Wash (or lick!) off and apply your favorite lip balm. I recommend Burt’s Bees. Put the remaining sugar scrub into a little dish and store in the refrigerator. The mix will keep for seven days. Feel free to exfoliate in another few days!
