Eco Beauty Life: Julia Matthews of Julia and Libby

September 24, 2016

Julia and Libby Matthews are two of my favourite wellness warriors—sisters who are changing the world, one meal and holistic health tip at a time. While their blog is a global go-to for good-for-you tips and nuggets of sisterly wisdom, their latest project is the recently published Julia and Libby’s Wholefood Kitchen: an in-depth sneak peak into their favourite recipes and, of course, how to make them.

Like me, they believe that beauty starts from within. They are self-professed lovers of everything that “nourishes the mind, body and soul”. I recently caught up with Julia (pictured below left) and asked her to share some of her biggest beauty secrets. Read on to find out what they are!

What are your top six natural beauty and health and wellness everyday essentials?

Antipodes Divine Face Oil

I have dry skin so am all about face oils that are hydrating. I love that this Antipodes oil has been scientifically shown to stimulate Type 1 Collagen by up to 51%—that was a major selling point for me.

Make up application isn’t my strong point so I try to keep it simple. The Inika foundation is so light but gives a dewy full coverage. It’s vegan friendly too, win win!

Revitalash Eyelash Growth Serum

I love having long lashes and used to get extensions but found them to be quite costly. I have been using Revitalash instead for a few years now and love how long it makes my lashes and how easy it is to apply.

Only Good Body Wash

So well priced and their scents are beautiful. Libby and I featured in their TV advert so naturally it’s my favourite!

Ambiance Dry Shampoo

Working out every day means my hair gets dirty fast, and for times when I don’t have time to wash my hair I rely on this dry shampoo. It is incredible, works so well and is also vegan. It lives in my handbag!

When You’re…

On a long haul flight

Flight

Everything to keep my skin hydrated! Lots of liquids, I do love the 1Above flight drinks, Libby got me onto those and I find they help. Dr Hauschka Hand Cream, Verite Spa Organics Facial Tonic, Anitpodes Kiwi Seed Oil eye cream. Of course a good book and always my laptop so I can keep working when I’m in the sky.

Having a day at the beach

Beach

It is SO important to be sun smart so sunscreen always, I really like Jurlique SPF 50 sunscreen. A big beach umbrella, sunhat, sunglasses and lots of snacks!

In yoga class

Yoga

My yoga mat, I love the Dear Wknd brand (www.dearwknd.com) they are eco friendly, made with recyclable, 100% natural, tree rubber and water based inks. Lots of water to keep my hydrated. And cute yoga gear, Stirling Sports is my go to for all my Active Wear as they stock all of the brands I love.

Having a night out

NightOut

If I am going out with my girlfriends and know I will be having a few drinks I will load up on vitamins and water before hand. If I have time I will go a get a blow wave otherwise my GHD Curve does a great job of giving me beach waves. My favorite make up brands are Inika, Scout Cosmetics and Bella Vi.

At a book signing

Booksigning

A book signing generally means photos will be taken so that means keeping my skin fresh and if I have time I’ll fit in a facial, Caci Clinic help keep my skin in check when I’m in NZ.
